Q PROMPT For this discussion, I would like you to cite content from the article listed below. You are also free to cite any other sources that you reference. 1) Do you agree that Steven Brill's ("What I Learned from my $190,000 Open Heart Surgery") recommendation of cutting out the middleman of third-party insurers creates all the "right" incentives? If so, why, and can you think of other regulations that would be important (other than the ones he mentions)? If not, why not, and what do see as the problem(s) with the incentives his recommendation creates? I expect that this question would require at least 8 - 10 sentences. Once you post, you can reply to others. Note: You will not see others' posts until after your initial post. If you make a blank or very short post before your first post answering the prompt, you will not get credit for the discussion. Answers and replies should be in your own words. If you want to use a source to support your statements, you must cite the source. If you are using words directly from the source, you must include quotations.

I would have to agree with him on most of the article when it comes to cutting out the middle man. He talks about how the prices and the costs of healthcare. In my opinion we can place regulations in place that the most you can charge would be a certain amount per item or test. He mentions that a pack of gauzes cost several hundred dollars, well we should put a limit on prices. The way that these doctors and companies make their money is charging high prices and passing them on to the pharmaceutical companies who in turn send that cost right back to the consumer.
